Webquest Reflection

Webquest Reflection

What? I have learned that Descriptive study is more about describing what, how, and why something is happening. Correlational study is measuring the relationship between two or more variables. Experimental study allows conclusions about cause and effect relationships and which events cause which outcome. Action research is a study that a teacher does with he/ she classroom or school, over a period of time.

So What? The importance of these topics understands the different studies that are conducted. Depending on the study, you will draw out different conclusions compare to another study that is done. That is one important thing about these different studies.

Now What? There is still a lot I need to learn about educational research. I understand the different between each research, but that is how far it goes. I do plan on continuing to learn about each research so that I will know how to use these in my future classroom. For now, I really don’t know how I would use these educational researches in my classroom.

Motivation Blog

1. The reason why I am in the teaching program is because I enjoy teaching. I enjoy making a difference and helping other people out. I am taking Educational Psychology because first, it is a required course and second, I find it interesting how children’s mind work. The reason why I am at UVU is because I have been told a couple of times that the teaching program here is the best around.
2. Many things motivate me. First, the reward at the end of doing good job in all of my classes. Second, food works really good to motivate me. I enjoy all kinds of food. Usually if I am asked to go somewhere, where I don’t want to go, if food is involved, it makes it well worth it. And I am a poor college who is now a newly wed. Lastly, when there is a homework assignment I am dreading to do, I reward myself by being able to go shopping. If I finish it by the time I set to finish the assignment, I can go shopping. The one thing that motivates me by far the most is having the chance to spend time with my husband. If I work really hard to get my homework done, then I know I get to spend some time with my husband.
3. I think I succeed because I put effort into my school work and into life. I like to be organized so I don’t miss anything. I think from being organized, I have been able to accomplish more, which has helped me to succeed. I try my best in life, and from that, I feel that I succeed.
4. I fail because I don’t try my best. When I do try my best on an assignment and I don’t do so well on the grading, I try to do better next time. If I improve, then I feel I am doing well. But at the same time, life does happen, and I can only do so much. I really don’t like failing, so that’s why I try my best at everything so I don’t have to feel bad in the end and get down on myself.
5. I need to change my motivation for this class by remembering why I am taking this class. It is to learn about educational psychology so that I can better help the children I will one day be teaching. That would be a better motivation to have in the long run. I don’t feel that I need to change my mindset about this class. I already want to learn all that I can to be able to be the best teacher I can be. If that means doing a lot of homework and reading, then so be it. My mind is set to do my best in this class as I can and learn all that I can.

Course Contract

List 2-3 specific goals you have for this course.
-One goal I have for this course is to learn how children process their thoughts. This way I will be able to teach children in the right way. Second is to

Describe your weekly preparation plan. Be specific. What will you do each day of the week to prepare for this course.
-My weekly plan is to do the homework that I can after class while it is still fresh in my mind. I plan on reading the textbook and making study cards as I read. Then reviewing my note cards before class and through out the week. This way I can remember the material better. Any homework I don’t finish after class, I will finish on Saturday.

Outline the study strategies that you will use to understand the material.
-I will use the 4 R’s I got in class. I will get ready to read, then read, then reduce the material I just read, and then retain. To get ready to read I will wrap myself in a blanket. While I am reading I will use a pencil to underline important information. Then to reduce, I will summarize what I have read. Then I will review my note everyday to retain the information. I will also make a list of words I don’t understand and use a dictionary to define them. I will have my list of words on hand when reading.

Explain the process you will follow if you do not understand a topic.
-If I don’t understand the topic, then I will reread the textbook and go through my notes. After that I will talk to my friends and see if they can explain the material to me. If I still don’t understand, then I will talk to the teacher and get further help.

Complete the following statement:
I will reach my goals in this course by studying everyday and seeking help when I need it.
